Port of Tyne named Outstanding Port at first BPA Awards

Last night we were named Outstanding Port at the first ever British Ports Association's awards in Aberdeen.

Eleni Bougioukou and Ashley Nicholson attended the ceremony to accept the prize presented to a port that has gone "above and beyond its normal functions; helping staff reach their potential, or pushing for progressive change in the industry".

We showcased the various projects and initiatives around our ambitious Tyne 2050 strategy including:

  • Our successful Change Makers and High Performance Leadership programmes
  • The development of an industry wide Carbon Literacy Toolkit
  • The introduction of our online learning academy

Matt Beeton, Chief Executive, commented: “It’s fantastic to be crowned as ‘Most Outstanding Port’ in the first ever BPA awards! The thing that makes this place so great is the people who work here and I’m extremely proud to work with colleagues who go the extra mile, push the boundaries of what’s possible and are determined to make our port outstanding. I’m thrilled that our colleagues and partners are being recognised for their amazing work."

We would like to congratulations to all of the other winners and finalists, and thank you to the BPA for a excellent conference and gala dinner.
