Our people are essential to our success and across the Port's five business areas there is a wide variety of roles and occupations.
The Port of Tyne is a progressive company that seeks to employ people irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity. The Port currently employs over 450 people; however an impact assessment revealed that the Port influences the employment of up to 8,000 people through Port related activities. This accounts for 3% of the workforce in Tyne and Wear.
Excellent working conditions make the Port of Tyne a great place to work and this has resulted in excellent levels of staff retention. Many of our employees have been with the Port for over 15 years.

Students regularly spend work experience at the Port where they can gain experience in a broad range of roles or choose to learn about a specific role in more detail. Similarly graduates often seek work placements at the Port.
The Port provides modern apprentice opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Engineering. Entry level requirements are usually either GCSE or NVQ qualifications.
